The College of Business and Management Sciences
(CoBAMS) Library was formed as a result of an operational merger between the
former Faculty of Economics and Management (FEMA) and the Institute of
Statistics and Applied Economics (ISAE). One section of the library is located
at plot 51, Pool Road and housed on Block B, ground floor; and the second
section is located at former ISAE building opposite the Main Library. The
library has a sitting capacity of about 76 chairs at ISAE building and 14 at
former FEMA.
CoBAMS library collection consists of print books
and periodicals in economics, statistics, business, management and population
studies. It also consists of the book bank collection, theses, dissertations
and research papers. It also has publications donated by various projects such
as African Capacity Building Foundation, African Economic Research Consortium
and the Joint Japan and World Bank projects. Government publications especially
from the Ministries of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Education
and Sports and Uganda Bureau of Statistics are also part of the collection. The
print collection is beefed up by the broad variety of electronic resources
provided by the University Library and accessible online at http://projects.mak.ac.ug/muklib. Through
the Document Delivery Service also provided by the University Library, users
who fail to get full-text articles from the available databases can make
requests for the articles at no cost.
Books with multiple copies are loaned out to
students and staff for a semester and those with few copies are loaned out for
2 days. The Reserve collection consisting of periodicals, students’ research
papers, theses and dissertations is only used within the library. Library users
can also access the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to get information
about the college collection at www.makula.mak.ac.ug:8080
