Reference & Circulation

The section is headed by Patrick Sekikome and it handles both reference services, circulation and the related activities. There is the information desk where enquires related to the library and the university are made. It is at this point where clearances for final year students are also done.

More about Reference & Circulation

The section also handles the circulation (Borrowing and receiving) of books. Circulation is carried out in the IDA (International Development Agency), Law and Open Shelves. Books and other information materials in the IDA and Law are borrowed for a period of four hours and they used within the library only and must be returned before the borrowing session expires.  On the other hand, books in the Open Shelves are borrowed for a period of two weeks and renewable once. However, a user should seek clearance from the library staff before borrowing the book out.

The IDA collection consists of textbooks covering most of the academic programs at the university. It also includes reference materials such as dictionaries and encyclopedia. There is a catalogue arranged alphabetically to ease access and retrieval.

The Law collection consists of books, reports and periodicals on law and human rights. This collection is identified by specific location symbols in the catalogue that include L, HR, LPER and HR PER. The table of contents for the journals is pinned on the section noticeboard to guide the readers.

A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents. I should be incapable of drawing a single stroke at the present moment; and yet I feel that I never was a greater artist than now. When, while the lovely valley teems with vapour around me.
