Biography

Luke Francis Kiwanuka is an Academic Librarian at Makerere University with over 15 years specialising in the fields of Knowledge Management, Information Behaviour, Digitisation and Documentation of endangered languages, Digitisation, Research Reference management, Repository Administration, Archiving and Information Literacy Training. He was instrumental in advocating for the formulation and advocating for the passing of the Open Access and Repository Policy at Makerere University. He holds a Master’s of Information Technology (M. IT) for Librarians from the University of Pretoria and a 2009 AMIA/Rockefeller Visiting Archivist Fellowship Recipient. He is also an enthusiast photographer. Luke is an enthusiast ultra-marathon runner who has participated in both the 2024 and 2025 Ultimate Human Race called the Comrades Ultra Run earning back-to-back Bronze medals. He has participated in numerous Marathons in Uganda and around the World and he dreams of running and completing the 6 Abbot World Major Marathons.
