The Library ICT unit offers efficient IT Services and qualified support to students, researchers, staff and administration. We contribute to making the library an attractive learning environment. The core of our approach is accessibility and operational support that creates added value for all library users.
Access to information technology facilities is essential in pursuit and achievement of
an excellent learning experience. It also offers lifelong skills which lay foundation for your Careers.
To ensure proper use and continued availability of the facilities, all users must adhere
to the following lab rules:
Library ICT services are for staff, students and registered external users of Makerere University. The above Library Regulations apply to all University staff and students and any other users of the services. All users are expected to observe them, to ensure an effective service and to avoid inconveniencing other users. The regulations apply to all library branches but special rules, which are displayed locally, may take precedence.
A relatively well-equipped Training unit was set up in the Main Library where information literacy sessions are conducted for university staff, students and library staff. A computer laboratory for library users with special needs was also set up. The ICT facilities are planned to grow and to cater for the library users’ growing and changing needs in an information age with its corresponding opportunities and challenges. The library also offers a specialized space, Research Commons offering a differentiated service. The Research Commons is a new type of learning space that exemplifies technology and space design working to encourage and enhance research and collaboration. It’s a place for knowledge creation and research.
